Tow Bar Install
2019 Buick Envision
I installed a tow plate sometimes referred to as a base plate. This is a Curt Mfg unit which bolts to the frame. Blue Ox is different as is Roadmaster's. Instructions and bolts come with the Curt unit. I had trouble with alignment so i used a few wood wedges until I could tighten the left side bolts.
Removal of fuse 29 and 32 prevent battery drain during tow. Fuses are accessed by opening the glove

box. Then removing a cover on the right side. I purchased a wiring assembly provided by Curt MFG for

the purpose of eliminating removal of the fuses. A 3/4 inch hole is required for the switch install. I used
​
a wood block behind the plastic to protect against damages when hole boring. I was unsatisfied with
the Curt switch. The wires were too short. Also the wire tips installed in place of the fuse protruded a
little longer than I wanted making the fuse box cover unuseable. In the end I made my own switchable
link. For the fuse end I used a fuse. Cutting vertically I disabled the fuse then glued it back together.
This premitted the fuse cover room to close.
