Balmorhea, Texas

Overnight scheduled for March 11 and 12th at a privately owned campground. Balmorhea, laid out in 1906 by land developers Balcum, Moore, and Rhea. Thus the city name. There is a large spring there used for irrigating crops in the early 1900s. It is now a State of Texas park. The park was created by Civilian Conservation Corps, 1936 to 1941. The spring feed swimming pool is the worlds largest at 77,053 sq ft.


Rice is grown in and near Balmorhea, Texas due to plentiful water.
