Fort Bowie

Overnight at Alaskan RV Park went well. From there it was a deep slide downward.

A 12 miles side trip to see Fort Bowie, the remnants there of, was poor judgement on my choice of driving the motorhome.

I had to decoupled the tow car. Then using the car to explore.. Eventually a nice wide private gate area was used to park the motorhome.

On to Fort Bowie by car.

The parking area as drawn is deceiving. There are only 3 car slots. Several more are occupied by National Park vehicles. No way is a motorhome going to fit unless it is of panel truck size. A sign approaching Fort Bowie warns not to drive anything longer than 24 feet.

I wish that sign was posted 10 miles earlier

None of the buildings remain.

Ruins of Calvary Barracks.
